Final blog prompt for Interactive Digital Storytelling course:

Describe five of your “take-aways” from the course. These may be technical, aesthetic, related to project management, or whatever is relevant to your experience in the course.

  1. This class has stressed the importance of the concept building process and I really see how this step pushes the project forward. Read the rest of this entry »

Week 11 – punk project update

Posted: November 7, 2011 in Uncategorized

My idea has evolved by focusing more on the “moods” of punk. I’ll be starting out with a video that takes various comments about what punk music make them feel. Also, I’ll be working on creating “mood” videos similar to the one I made for the Physical Me video. Just looking for people who would not be embarrassed to move to the music on camera.

As for the scale of my project, I mentioned that I will focus on the moods more than the origins of punk. The origins will be there for some solid grounding and facts about the genre.

Specific tasks completed so far… Read the rest of this entry »

Week 10 Prospectus

My project’s working title:  “The Transformation of Punk Rock.”

This would document punk rock’s journey through time and how it has changed. I would narrow it down by focusing on a few people’s perspective. I would show the progression of time through interviews with people old and young that could provide memories, which I’d weave together to create a multilayered story. Aspects of punk rock that I would cover are its origins, the different types of punk, the difference between old and modern punk rock, the bands who brought about punk’s transformations, the fan stories, and explain how punk has transformed and to what extent. Week 8 Reflection

The Korsakow software has introduced a new way of thinking…thinking in a non-linear fashion. I like how the non-linear format inspired me to think of a way to tie the videos together somehow. I am sure that with more time to think on the actual connections, I could think of a better way to tie all the SNUs together. I like my current idea, so I plan on finessing it before the end of the week to turn in as my revised version.

Week 2 – RTF 344M

Posted: September 5, 2011 in Uncategorized

My two places for the first video assignments is a tough choice. I would rather work on a video of a place that brings back positive memories, so I’m choosing a place that I love rather a place that I loathe. I have shot some footage, but I still want to keep my options open in case I have a better idea. Places I have considered: the dark room at UT, the music library and booth at KVRX, the free side at Barton Creek pool, and Emo’s or another similar music venue. I’ve gotten a few shots at the KVRX booth and the Barton Creek pool, but think I’d like to choose the KVRX office and dark room.  Read the rest of this entry »

Final: Post-mortem

Final project:

This is a demo version of an AU episode. What we are showcasing here is the intro, the lower thirds, the transitions, and the end credits.

I feel that this new update to the intro/outro will be used for some time and I’m liking it a lot! There was so much work put into it from both me and Elizabeth. I’m glad we go to put our mark on the show as next year’s executive producers. This is the first of our updates and I hope to be constantly improving the show.

What I would call a success is Read the rest of this entry »
